My bank wants me to install "trustee"

Don't install it. I think it's legitimate software, but it caused trouble on a friends pc - slowness and the 3G modem didn't want to work anymore. After uninstalling it everything was working again.

My bank wanted the same c**p installed. It is a nasty piece of junk, it slows down everything. I uninstalled it and now my browser is back to normal.

My bank used to insist it was installed, and it gave me no problems. Except when Chrome updated itself, at which point the bank web site threw a hissy fit because it wasn't properly installed and wouldn't update. Although it never gave me any problems, it never did anything to spot "dodgy" sites so it's possible it was just sitting there twiddling it's electronic thumbs... :laugh:

But instead of saying we sold it we just tell you we got hacked and the information was taken from us so you'll feel better and we're off the hook. Sorry I guess in my old age I'm getting cynical.

So far I had never heard about it. I don't think I would install it. I am not really sure that it would "help" so much

What they really mean is; We already have most of your personal information and we would like to get the rest including the ability to track your movements on the web so we can sell your information to marketing people or the highest bidder. But instead of saying we sold it we just tell you we got hacked and the information was taken from us so you'll feel better and we're off the hook. Sorry I guess in my old age I'm getting cynical.

My bank always get me to try and do the same thing, with the same piece of crapware, every time I log in - I have so far succeeded at cancelling the software. Having said that I did install it once and 30 minutes later removed it after it screwed with most things on my machine. I know many non IT savvy people have their machines riddled with malware of one type or another, but it is rather annoying to have to cancel the dialog box and click on the login button each time I want to see my balance.
