I propose a new class of criminal offenses: - The use of flash on a site without intent - Cruel and unusual use of colours and background on a website - Reckless use of popup windows The first case would have subcases: "Using flash For No Good Reason", "Using Flash Without a Non-Flash Option", "Senseless Flash Intro", and, of course, "Willful Disregard of Common Sense in Relation to Flash-based Navigation". All offenses would be hanging offenses. In certain cases where leniency is offered flaying and possibly being covered with honey and staked onto an ant's nest would be suitable non-lethal deterants. Do not make me download 200Kb of flash for each frigging page. Do not make the navigation so complicated that you are sent on a wild ride that takes you no where near where you want to go. Do not, for the love of God, make cutesy noises when ever I so much as move the mouse. Do not pass go and do not collect $200. Go straight to jail. cheers, Chris Maunder

You also have my vote. But how many new sites are not using some proprietary setup. VRML is going away and X3D seams to be dying (most of the free viewers are not open down loads anymore....) Yes they were both for 3D scenes so not the same. I am hoping for SVG to make a break through but it seams to be a little slow. The viewers need to be in the browser. ""

Of course though HomeStarRunner.com would be excluded from all of those, right? ;P I agree though, Flash is great in a minority of cases and totally shite in the vast majority. I particularly hate sites that use floash for buttons that could easily be done with a basic understanding of DHTML - it's like those spinning @-mail gif's all over again!
