I thought it was Sept 30th?..and they probably won't make that date either.

Original date is the 20th If you look at the news feed of this website you will notice the top story is that it looks like Windows will not be unveiled the 30th either.

Does anyone really care? Anyone with any sense will continue to use Weven until it goes out of support -- changing operating systems every five minutes is an unnecessary, unwanted, and very large overhead. Remember to ask the golden question:  Is it broke?

When trying to keep up with as many aspects of programming as possible across multiple platforms; rumors and false statements are annoying. I also noticed a general bias towards Microsoft in every experienced programmer I ever met, while their opinion seems to be based on nothing but another programmers hatred for the same thing.

The original date was the 20th and the date of the 30th is looking to be false as well.

The 20th was a Saturday; few companies hold press events on Saturdays. There may have been rumors or someone, perhaps even you, mis-transcribing the 30th to the 20th, but that's about it. FYI, the 30th date has been known for over a month.

The problem is that the rest of us pay attention to the truth. You are the one who is examining every weird ass rumor, making shit up and saying really dumb things for reasons nobody here can understand. That's called psychological projection, in case you are curious.

It was over a month ago that someone said that we will find out on the 20th not me, and I notice that he hasn't posted on this thread. Other new stories about Windows on this news feed at one point said the 20th. Which was followed by this today http://www.infoworld.com/article/2686182/microsoft-windows/more-microsoft-mind-games.html[^] Which points out that it might not happen the 30th either.

Microsoft never said there was a press event on September 20. Again, they have not stated what the September 30 press event is for, so no matter what happens, it proves nothing and makes the statement "it might not happen on the 30th" completely irrelevant. Also amusing that you have no source for the 20th (which, again, was probably a typo for the reasons I gave.) Your modus operandi seems to be to take one person's claims and make them representative of everyone as a whole or even Microsoft. You also take things that are known and documented and simply claim they aren't true without any supporting evidence.

YOU are the one who claimed Windows 9 was going to be announced on September 20 and now crow that it wasn't and now claim that it will be announced on September 30, but we'll all be dissapointed. The truth is that it doesn't matter what happens, you will twist it all around and claim you are right and everyone else is wrong. The truth is that Microsoft is holding a press event on September 30, has never said anything different and hasn't given a hint as to what it is about. For all I know they're going to announce Halo 2014 for PC or that the next version of Windows is going to be called Windows Door.

And on October 1st the planes will not fall out of the sky, the trains will not derail, the cars will still drive down the road, your refrigerator will still be keeping your food cold, tour toaster will still toast your bread, you will go to work as usual. In other words it will be a normal Wednesday.

I am of the same opinion, so I waited for 2 years after MS introduced Silverlight before jumping in... AAAaaahhhhhh and I still get shafted when they deprecated it. I am yet to get an 8 machine and expect to go direct to 9 or possibly 10, thankfully I skipped Vista altogether.

I've been coming to this website for almost a decade without participating, and is known in the programming community as a place to go for solid news. I am finding out that this website seems to be more based around rumors. I was hoping that this site would be up front about the build conference in march and instead there were links posted in the newsfeed that someone said the words Windows 9 were actually uttered at build.

If you look at the news feed of this website you will notice the top story is that it looks like Windows will not be unveiled the 30th either.

And on October 1st the planes will not fall out of the sky, the trains will not derail, the cars will still drive down the road, your refrigerator will still be keeping your food cold, tour toaster will still toast your bread, you will go to work as usual. In other words it will be a normal Wednesday.
