Looks Like I was wrong. http://www.winbeta.org/news/microsoft-publicly-confirms-windows-9-coming-soon No wait the first paragraph ends with "so does this mean Microsoft has officially confirmed the name "Windows 9"? Not necessarily." And what event?

The news story did not have the event named at which to prove the story. Also the only way Windows 9 was reached was through a translation. It is not confirmed - so I am not wrong or right.

No shit. "Internally, Microsoft refer to Windows Threshold as Windows 9, whether Windows 9 ends up being the public name for the operating system remains to be seen, but there's still a chance." Gee, what most of us have been saying. There is a slim possibility that someday you might be right about something. I hope your brain doesn't explode.

And the question that still hasn't been answered is, does it really matter? Does the name that is commonly used to refer to a product that will be released in the future really matter to anyone until it's actually released?

You seem to be very critical over CP daily News. CP is not a news source. Chris and his minions bring forward a list of links that may be of interest to developers. They do not have the resources to check these sources nor is this their intent. In fact the comments under each link often give a hint that they are sceptical. Mary Jane Foley is one of the most respected sources for Microsoft News and this link was to one of her stories. If you don't perceive any value to Daily News, unsubscribe. To use CP as a purely technical resource is perfectly honourable, but subscribing then complaining about the links, not so much. Thanks to Chris and his team for providing these links!

When it came to build in March of this year, the Windows 9 name consumed the news stories and what actually happened at build didn't matter.

Most other releases haven't been seen as a mockery of the current operating system other then Vista.
