France is IMO just trying to give a reason SH not to use his chemical arsenal. Now that SH knows he has a week to live, he may as his idol Adolf try to take as many people as possible with him in the grave.

Wait, I thought they didn't have WMDs? I wouldn't count on France if I were the military planners. ;)

IIRC, France never said that Iraq doesn't have WMD. They just said "Hey, hang on. Let's see if we can prove that they have WMDs before we bomb them back into the stone age". The french government seems to praise the idea of being innocent until proven guilty, which I believe is a sign of strong integrity. And for that I salute them. Salut mes amis! Do you think MOAB is qualified as a WMD? I have always seen WMDs as something far more grave in their application. Like nukes, no only do the blow the shit out of things, they raze the land for generations. The word abbreviation is awfully long for what it means.
