Stopping Internet Plagiarism may seem to be a daunting challenge at first, however, the process is extremely simple and can be broken down into a series of steps. Below are the six steps to detecting and stopping misuse of your content on the Web: How to Find Plagiarism[^] – How to detect plagiarism in nearly all content types. Contacting a Plagiarist [^]– An overview of how to contact an infringer. Finding the Host[^] – Information on how to find the host of any Web site. Contacting the Host[^] – How to contact the host and get infringing content removed. When All Else Fails[^] – What to do when the other approaches don’t work. The Long Haul[^] – How to develop a long-term content protection strategy.

I posted it after reading the post below with the jokes in - simply copy/pasted from a joke site. See if you can guess why I thought it was funny ... (obviously I should have put the joke icon on it...)

  I thought you might have been about to launch into a rant about something being pirated... alas no, it was far more subtle than that!!

I think quite a timely post actually. I know exactly where you are coming from. The whole concept of plagiarism seems to have a different significance in different cultures - a bit like the concept of free speech. The idea that what you put out is substantially your own work (and if not you attribute accordingly) is not a bad one.

Peter Wasser "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." - Bertrand Russell

There's a huge difference between posting some words, and posting some words prefaced with "here's something I read here". When teaching kids it is a pain, but you have to teach them that A white dwarf, also called a degenerate dwarf, is a stellar remnant composed mostly of electron-degenerate matter. not only does not sound like something a 15 year old would write but, looks like they don't understand most of the words. Usually it gets rewritten as A white dwarf is also called a degenerate dwarf and is a star remnant made of electron-degenerate matter. as they can't be bothered looking up the terms they don't understand. Third try would be A white dwarf is a star part or quantity that is left after the greater part has been used. at which point I shake my head sadly and go to the staff room for a shot of whiskey

Chalk it up to the Grammar Gremlin. Any time someone attempts to point out the grammatical incorrectness of someone else's writing then Grammar Gremlin shows up and scrambles up that person's writing. :D That's why you daren't say anything about this post.
