Thats not B-52's. Thats 117's and Tomahawks. If it was B-52's it would just be a rolling wave of fire and steel coming at you. Richard In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love; they had five hundred years of democracy and peace and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. Orson Welles

It doesn't really matter what's dropping the bombs - it's what they're dropping on that matters. '--8<------------------------ Ex Datis: Duncan Jones Merrion Computing Ltd

I know what to say... Nuke 'em till they glow. Bomb them back to the freakin' stone-age. The only good towel-head, is a dead towel-head. They wanted to meet Allah, here's their chance. What do you want them to drop. Another UN resolution giving Saddam 30 days to get his act together. First you gotta get their attention - then they will listen to reason. Richard PS: remember what LBJ said in his autobiography "Gettem by the balls and their hearts and minds will follow" In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. Merrion wrote: It doesn't really matter what's dropping the bombs Yes it does. B-52s tend to carpet-bomb - i.e. A bunch of B-52s fly in pattern and release lots and lots and lots of 'dumb' bombs that blow the crap out of a very wide area of land. This is to make sure that the actual target is hit. However, 117's, B-2's, and the surface-attacking fighter jets can drop the 'smart' bombs which remove the need to cover a wide area of the ground just to make sure you hit the target. Of course, a couple thousand pounds of high explosives is going to kill anyone that gets near it, so it's not like the 'smart' bombs are any safer to those that are nearby when they hit. Its just that one 'smart' bomb can usually accomplish the same military goal that used to require a squadron of carpet-bombing B-52's. The worst thing that can happen with a 'smart' bomb is that military intelligence incorrectly identifies a military target, and ends up targetting a civillian installation (as happenned a number of times in the first Gulf War). -- Russell Morris "Have you gone mad Frink? Put down that science pole!"

You know what John, a lot of people hate you. I, on the other hand, respect you. Not because I agree or disagree with what you say, but because you're willing to say it. I respect a man who stands for what he thinks regardless of what others around him may say. Bravo.

A lot of that was caused by old Patriot guidance systems. The new PAC3's use GPS rather than error prone and intense terrain maps.
