WhatsApp Therapist would be an idea too :)

Hello all, Is there any free and easy to use software under the sun that would allow a group of people (let's say non techy neighbors) to share data, complaints, problems, ask for meetings, calendar, to send messages between them... I've even though on creating a facebook group but this is a little bit... well... PS: I've not searched for anything but I've abandoned before trying I even don't know what to search...

Its not software but just get them to actually talk to each other (best done over a pint(change to drink of choice) down the pub)

You cant outrun the world, but there is no harm in getting a head start Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

I think this is the option that would work best... as far as I see everything else would be too complicated... X|

Why not just set up a website (on one of the free hosting servers) and use phpBB[^] - it doesn't need any software, they can use it from anythign with a browser, and it'll be familiar to anyone who visits forums at all.

Probably this would be the best thing, but I don't have time and who knows how much time will I live here... it should be something without a bit of maintenance. but as always a good suggestion OG!

Google Calendar. Have not explored all features; but should suffice, I guess. Works in tandem with Gmail (Google Docs also?).

I think you might be moving into the realm of wechat[^] and whatsapp[^]. Or maybe something simpler (nothing to install), like yahoo groups[^].

Don't have time? Half hour set up at the most and only then if you want to define the topics etc. After that you really don't need to touch it at all.

Well why did you bother asking if you weren't actually prepared to do anything? (Actually, if this is your attitude, why did they ask you in the first place?) It is by far the simplest, most robust, forum option available and in all the years I've used it (for various online sports simulation sites) I've never needed to do anything to it once it was set up. As for the users, if they can email they have more than enough of a skill base to operate it without the need for anything approaching a manual.

Jeez, Nobody asked me to do anything, I have seen a problem and I asked here if there is something free that could help, of course I was thinking on something else you could not know that... I'm simply tired to see papers hanging everywhere and if something free, already done and working would work I would propose them to use that, but no, I'm not prepared to give technical support, I'm not prepared to maintain anything... Something like "google calendar" look much more interesting to me by now... Imagine that... people hear Google and doesn't run... try to tell them they'll have to use phpBB and see what happen. I can see you are novice here in CP land, but put attention to the icons at the beginning of the posts... the one with a paper and a smiling face means joke. I guess that if you would have to make a robot to go 10 mm to the right at a certain speed (which takes less than 10 seconds to be done) it would take you a little bit more time, at least to find out how to start with it, find manuals and so... To me that phpBB is the same thing... X|

Someone down here in NZ created a web service called "Neighbourly". It provides posting of requests for help, watchdog alerts and giveaways. I get a daily summary of activity for my neighbourhood only. If I want to join in the discussion, I can at my leisure. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find similar services elsewhere.

The difficult may take time, the impossible a little longer.

I've not yet tried it myself, but what you describe sounds very much like what Trello[^] has been designed to do. It's web-based and appears to have very few limitations regarding what you can share (and organize) with it. Add some code-sharing platform like Github and you're good to go.

GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

Git Hub can cover the first 3 -- share data, complaints and problems. Google Calendar can cover making meetings. WhatsApp Web --> which is the desktop version of WhatsApp. (if you don't like going the celphone route)

Git Hub can cover the first 3 -- share data, complaints and problems. Google Calendar can cover making meetings. WhatsApp Web --> which is the desktop version of WhatsApp. (if you don't like going the celphone route)

Way too lazy. They should use telnet and ftp.
