Why not just set up a website (on one of the free hosting servers) and use phpBB[^] - it doesn't need any software, they can use it from anythign with a browser, and it'll be familiar to anyone who visits forums at all.

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Someone down here in NZ created a web service called "Neighbourly". It provides posting of requests for help, watchdog alerts and giveaways. I get a daily summary of activity for my neighbourhood only. If I want to join in the discussion, I can at my leisure. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find similar services elsewhere.

The difficult may take time, the impossible a little longer.

Hello all, Is there any free and easy to use software under the sun that would allow a group of people (let's say non techy neighbors) to share data, complaints, problems, ask for meetings, calendar, to send messages between them... I've even though on creating a facebook group but this is a little bit... well... PS: I've not searched for anything but I've abandoned before trying I even don't know what to search...

I've not yet tried it myself, but what you describe sounds very much like what Trello[^] has been designed to do. It's web-based and appears to have very few limitations regarding what you can share (and organize) with it. Add some code-sharing platform like Github and you're good to go.

GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

Git Hub can cover the first 3 -- share data, complaints and problems. Google Calendar can cover making meetings. WhatsApp Web --> which is the desktop version of WhatsApp. (if you don't like going the celphone route)

Hi Joan, I've tried to dig up some info you can persuse without actually having to sign up. I've found this screenshot[^] to be pretty impressive. it's taken from this article[^]. Have fun!

If your group is organized geographically, such as a local neighborhood, you may want to check out NextDoor. I'm not sure if it can do everything you're looking for, but it definitely covers some of your needs.
