Buying a new computer
-
Hello, I will move to the US this week, and I have to buy a new computer. What I really want is to fully customize my computer. I tried to find such a company on the Internet, but I havent find any, yet. Does anyone knows good addresses that I can create my own PC? Kind regards Mustafa Demirhan

Like Ed said, Dell is a good bet. I have only dealt with them in the UK, but their service has been truly first class. You can go to their site and completely customise every aspect of your new machine/s, then place the order, and have them installed and running in under a week! Dell! I use 5 Dells at work, and I have one at home. I've never had a single problem with any of them. They're all fast, solid machines. Jon Sagara "Left-handed nunchakus!"

But I think that I have to buy a new Windows license with Dell and Gateway computers. But I already own 2 Windows licenses (Win98 and Win2000) and do not want to buy another... Can I buy a new computer without any Windows licenses? Kind regards Mustafa Demirhan

Micro$oft FORBIDS (dictates?) OEM computer manufacturers from selling any system without an OS. But remember, they are not a monopoly!;)

I was in your shoes a couple of weeks back and I ended up getting a laptop instead, since that's what I really needed. However, I plan to get a desktop soon and it's gonna be from CyberPower. They sell the awesomest AMD systems, fully loaded, for probably the best prices you'll find. My laptop cost me $2800 USD; an equivalent desktop system with the latest processor, 512 DDR RAM, 40 Gig drive, a 19" monitor, etc., would have come out to around $1600 total! Regards, Alvaro
