Hi Guys, I need your help. I've entered a competition over here in Blighty. The idea is to create a business pitch (in less than 2000 characters) and a 90 second video. There's also a load of paperwork in the background, business plans, mission statements and so on, but nobody gets to see these unless you make it through the first round... Which is a Public Vote. 2000 characters and a minute and a half of video can't really do justice to 4 years of work, which might sound like a long time, but it's a solo effort that I've been fitting in around the day job... Can you see where this is going yet? I've badgered all my mates on Farcebook, but they're of the non-techy persuasion (in general). I've Twittled, twurped, linkled and all manner of other ludicrous sounding hotch potch. Then I thought of 'The Lounge'. So here I am, cap in hand, asking my fellow developers to rock on over to this link[^] and take a Butchers ('hook' - look). If you could also hit the Vote button I'd appreciate it. I have until 5pm (GMT) Tuesday... Er... Tomorrow! Thanks guys Danny

Interesting video, no idea if the humor will translate to the not so techie people tho. Also was a bit fast to follow but I guess with only 90sec you didn't have much margin. One remark (and my first thought / question): You speak of saving money because of no commission and one integrated system and ... But this is a business pitch, meaning you have to convince people to 'invest' into you and your business, this means that your business will have to make some money somehow, it might be worth mentioning how you'll do this. Flat fee per year / support contracts / license fee / update fee / ... (no need to go into details to much but just a mention, I'm sure if you have to present this at some meeting you'll get the same question and will be able to explain further) Voted :) And good luck :)

Cheers Tom. All the financial details are in the Business Plan and supporting docs. This is just the advert, if you like. But I see what you mean. If anyone's interested, it's a single set up fee, and a flat fee for bookings closed by the software (regardless of source). Cheers for Vote - and I think I'm going to need that Luck! Danny

Well if I put on my investors hat (that I don't actually have but lets pretend I do) that is fine for me but I'm afraid that many wouldn't bother to read those (at least not for a initial selection), I know it's cruel to think they won't read them after you worked on those docs for so long but unfortunately it's going to happen, people have short attention spans. So a small mention on how you intend to make money can never hurt. If I put on my customer hat (also don't have that but ...) I'd like to know what it will actually cost me, I think everybody in the world these days knows that nothing is free so... It's a very interesting concept, and I can't count the times I gave up on booking a hotel room or something like that because of the totally bad websites that don't show me what I want but what they want me to see and that come with hidden fee's and the like. I actually completely gave up on that now and use a booking agency whenever I plan a vacation. So I'd very much like to see the end result and hope it takes off.

Ok, I've voted... I'll vote for anything that doesn't cost me money! ;-) Good luck with that. I worked for seven years helping set up Amadeus CRS for airlines, hotels, etc. They are now the largest CRS in the world. Nice to see they might have some competition for the smaller businesses.

                                        - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.
