I would not blame Windows or Microsoft Office for this. They are still in beta. :) You know what type of software is in beta. The one that doesn't run, but we still want to share the executable. ;)

Good point, although I haven't run into a legitimate case of resource exhaustion since pre-Windows NT. As it turns out, what the error actually meant is, Internet Explorer could not directly open this file type from a Sharepoint site, so download and open the file manually.
