Spam Blockers?

Now that I'm getting far more spam than real mail, it's time to revisit the available spam filters out there. I haven't run one in many years, but it's getting to be almost impossible to wade through the crap in order to find the half dozen or so legitimate emails I get each day. What do you recommend, and why?

If you are using Outlook, try SpamBayes. After a week of training, it seems to be >95% effective for me (I run all my email through Outlook). Some people have reported having issues getting it to work with Outlook 2013, but I haven't noticed any problems.

I hate to say this but gmail works pretty damn well, at least for me. You can also configure it, and it is free. They offer a business account, if needed (not free).
GMail always puts CP stuff into the junk folder. I have tried the usual, marking it as NOT SPAM! and making sure the CP addresses are in my contacts list. No improvement. I tried e-mailing support@gmail.com only to receive a failure notification, the address is no longer valid. So how do I find the correct address? Tried Googling it and got support@gmail.com. Frankly I am fed up with GMail and its nonsense, like "organising" my mail so that I can't find anything. I am on the verge if going back to Yahoo. At least I know where to find the Daily Build etc..
I may not last forever but the mess I leave behind certainly will.

Really!? :confused: I have been using gmail for years with no issues that could not be resolved easily. I never had to reach out to Google for anything. -- Interesting

I recommend putting the word "junk" in your email address. My last email account, about 15 years ago, was full of spam. When I got a new ISP I created a junk email address, samjunk@... and it's been 15 years or so now and I almost never get any spam. I do get a lot of email from businesses I've given it to, but no spam. I think the spammers filter out "junk" addresses.

I used it many years ago, when it was still shiny and wet behind the ears, and it worked fairly well. I'll give it another look, though. Thanks! :-D

I do get a lot of email from businesses I've given it to, but no spam. I think the spammers filter out "junk" addresses.
I tried something similar, but apparently they don't filter out "spam" addresses, so my nospam@... gets as much spam as my others (more since I tend to use it in situations where I'm expecting my address to end up on yet another 'list')

i also have yahoo and outlook.com accounts and they're almost spam-free.
