The US ambassador to canada earlier this week quite made it clear that he was disapointed with Canada because we haven't gone to war with them; and that the USA might consider using economic pressure against us (canada). Both those 2 countries, the biggests allies of the USA (besides UK) do not support the war on Irak; and now, the USA is blaming them, pressuring them, and not trying to keep the relation secure and as good as possible. Interesting, is the Canadian gov trying to save face with it's people while loosely participating in the coalition? The soldiers were already in the exchange programs for some times. I'm not sure what are the protocols when soldiers are exchanged, they are under british commands, they will follow orders, unless the canadian gov. decide to bring them back.

Québec never has quite fit in with the rest of Canada it seems like. I live in Michigan's Upper Penninsula and when I go to Ontario they have a huge French influence to it seems like. Kind of strange being from the States to see the bi-lingual signs. But I guess if I lived in California or Texas it would be the other way around, lots of Spanish obviously. I'm still surprise when going to other provinces to see some french on some signs! The best thing, is when coming back from the State, or anywhere else, and entering Canada in other provinces than Quebec, and speaking in English to the custom agents, more often they don't speak french (as they are supposed to be), and babble something and let us thrue (sp?), more so if having a Canadian Passport! :-) Max.

Curry and Rugby ... the two biggest loses in my life when I moved :(( I've become quite adept at cooking curry over the years, but it always seems to be too much like "work". i complain because i want it to be better, not because i think it's hopelessly terrible. i do like the US, and i do appreciate that part of a democracy is not always getting your way. but, another part of this particular democracy is being able to complain about the bad parts. maybe i should spend more time cheering for the good parts, but that's not my nature. :) -c
