Question: What would the public think if we did train our troops to fight in this situation? (Mixing in with the civilian population ....) I may not have quite understood your question, but here goes: The military should have trained for that scenario by using soldiers to simulate civilians. I'm not sure the public would have an opinion about it one way or the other. Of course, if you use actual real civies in live fire games, well then! Welcome to downtown Washington DC, or NYC for that matter. ha ha ha. I guess I'm a bit appalled that what was obvious to me and my office coworkers, and what has been addressed even on mainstream media for months, has somehow been missed by our war planners. That, and the idea that the Iraqi's would welcome us with open arms. Pretty amusing. Someone forgot that the Iraqi population is made of up many different ethnic tribes. They have no love for Saddam, but they have no love for us either, given how we've screwed them in the past too. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

Sorry Jorgen. I don't originate too many war posts (at least, I don't think I do!), but this one made me laugh: "The enemy we're fighting is different from the one we had war-gamed against," says Lieutenant General William Wallace, the senior US ground commander in Iraq. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2894549.stm[^]:laugh::laugh: Marc Help! :-D Well, I'm going to Los Angeles approximately 3 months from now. A few weeks after that I plan on taking a trip somewhere on the same latitude as the Mediterranean sea. I'll be damned if I will not walk on sunny beaches before this year is over! ;P -- Tune your mind, reach inside, peel away Touch, Taste, Feel, Saturation

And here you are: A conventional fight between coalition troops and Saddam Hussein's elite Republican Guard is "not too far away", the head of the British army, General Sir Michael Jackson, said today. Turns out, when he's not dangling babies over balconies, he's a frigin' General in the British Army!!! :omg: Marc  Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.
