[WAR] Poor people

Did you consider it may have been a surface to air missle that fell back into the city? Not saying that it wasn't an errant bomb, but anything shot into the air will land somewhere. Did you also hear about the Iraqi Fediyeen Saddam shooting at the women and children leaving Basrah? Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

It is bound to happen. I read today on one of the sites that never in history has a defended city been taken without extreme destruction or siege until starvation. If the United States army can accomplish what they claim they can, ie, take Baghdad without huge loss of civilian life, it would be the first in history. I hope they can, But, if it has never been done before, the odds does not look bright for the Baghdad civilan population. It could have been anything. But, has the moral compass gone so low that anything that goes wrong has to be justified with what Saddam does? We know it is a war. More people will die the longer the war continues. ...and contrary to what others may think, I believe that the civilian casualties of this war will skyrocket once the troops start ground attack on Baghdad. I could point out that there are some people who think that Saddam would do things to his own population to use as propoganda. I don't know that that is what happened, and the reality is that the people who died are just as dead either way. I mean that you guys go waaaaaay defensive at the slighest propaganda. But, some people genuinely hurt when people dies, and they may vent their feelings. IMO, it is better not to respond and just understand that whoever did it, these people are gone, and just share the grief. As a military strategy, Saddam will have to offer something in return for loyalty, to his people. He chooses to offer their lives itself, probably the best motivator. As I read in another post here, Saddam's son tried to use the same to win olympic medals. Despite whatever the US political propaganda says, they will end up killing many more civilians in this war. But, IMO, it will be because there is no other option to win this war. The more I read about urban warfare, the more I see the battle for Baghdad being a huge civilian graveyard. I mean that you guys go waaaaaay defensive at the slighest propaganda. But, some people genuinely hurt when people dies, and they may vent their feelings. IMO, it is better not to respond and just understand that whoever did it, these people are gone, and just share the grief. I have a feeling that before it is all over, lots of innocents will die. Unfortuantly at this point the only thing we can do is keep on. If the US and the UK were to withdraw or allow a ceasefire in which Saddam stayed in power, it would be worse than if we had not fought at all.
