The MacBook Pro is very good, I wouldn't dream of using a Windows machine as my everyday device these days. They are pricey but you do get a well built machine at the end of the day. The new MacBook looks interesting and the MacBook Air's are a lot cheaper than the Pro's (and just as well built). I think the MacBook Air's are actually cheaper than the Surface Pro 3.

MacBooks (both Pro and Air) are, indeed, of exceptional quality. Still, PC stuff gives you more "bang for your buck". Surface Pro 3 is kinda overpriced, but other brands (ASUS, Dell, etc) exist with better offerings regarding Price/Performance ratio. So, PCs are expected to be around for pretty long time...

There's always some compromise with a PC though, always something left out or downgraded to keep the price down. I wouldn't say you get more "bang for your buck". Any Windows laptop below £1,000 is going to have some issues. In my experience I've had to spend a lot more cash on a PC (by buying in upgrades) to get it closer to Apple's level but it's near impossible to match the screen quality (and no version of Windows supports high DPI screens properly, as I recently found out).

Here is a good old one: April Fools: Math Class Shadow[^] (re: WebTV Comedy channel[^]) Wanna see more of today. Btw, friends of mine reported some good news regarding Win10 upgrade. Running smooth/fast in Parallels on Mac, and in PC Tablets, though many experienced some sort of video driver issues. PS. ...and, btw, don't let the first Launch Failure[^] to discourage you! Stay calm and keep trying... :-D

You need to wait for the joke as I am waiting for that upgrade to understand that it is past 29th already. :sigh:

Well, personal experience could differ from the institutional one. Statistically, running business on PC is less expensive than using Macs, so in corporate world PCs still dominate the market. As I said before, Macs are metaphorically sort of “Lamborghini on Desktop” (or Maserati, Maybach, Bentley, etc), but general Taxi service is typically running on some ordinary “workhorse” like Toyota Camry or Ford Escape. Adding to the picture: I’ve personally built several hundred PCs (using both Intel/AMD), and gonna tell ya - if it’s done right in a first place, then it works for years.

I think that there's also a resistance in many workplaces to accept Macs. In my current contract (at a large multinational) the IT guys won't allow Macs on the network, only because they don't know how to manage them. Having said that, I can't see them moving from Windows 7 for many years to come either. Because a lot of us have used PC's for a long time, we're comfortable with them. Many people don't like to move from their comfort zone. To take your car example, I wouldn't say that Macs are like Lamborghini's - they're more like Audis. The trouble is we're all used to driving around in Citroens. Cheap and cheerful but expect to have to fiddle with them (a lot) to keep them running smoothly! :)

'Citroens' made me thinking: if I ever had seen any of 'em IRL... :-D

I had a brand new C3 in 2006, had nothing but trouble with it from two weeks in. Owned a Peugeot and a Renault in the past, all had electrical problems. I tend to stay away from French cars these days :)

Having tried to install it all day (and failed every single time), all I can say is: Windows 10 appears to BE the joke... :sigh:

Installed for me on the second attempt - the first failed with a cryptic HRESULT error. You could always try Microsoft's tool[^] to create your own installation media.
