    May be this was posted N times, but this source (AFP iactiv) is very good as it compares with the world oil reserves/production. Interesting statistics. Interactive Guide[^] Caution: Broaband required, Flash content. Don't :beer: and drive.

      Does anyone know why the majority of the world's oil reserves are located near the Persian Gulf? Just thought it was strange that the region considered to be cradle of civilization, also holds one the most sought after resources right now. Coincedence? probably, but some theory on why it might be concetrated in this region would be interesting.
