Have you tried the LibreOffice community? https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questions/[^] - at least you will be asking people who use it and may know?

By the way, saw your response over there, sending me to google. Just wondering, I googled the question again. I'm the (temporary, I'm certain) star of the internet for this question. Google And Bing both found the topic: In my questions here and on StackOverflow.

I can't help you but you posted in the "Free Tools" forum which is a place to tell others about free useful tools. It needs to be in QA!

New version: WinHeist Version 2.1.1 new web site. I know the voices in my head are not real but damn they come up with some good ideas!

Uh-Oh, somebody responded to free tools with exactly the same complaint that you just had. Now I can't delete it.

For a good several years, StackOverflow provided great speed in answers, even if they were not always great quality. (They were frequently dead on the mark bullseye.) I am waiting for an answer in SuperUser (one of the StackExchange sites) and I wonder if I'll get one. Is this a recent phenomenon ? Is it Seasonal ? Labor day ? Brass Tacks: What other site(s) might I join in hopes of finding nerds who can answer the weird fringe questions ?

It's disconcerting when that happens, isn't it? First time it happened to me, I googled something I needed to do and top of the list was a tip here. That I'd written... and then forgotten... :O

The question was motivated after a dose of reality HERE[^] with which I had to (sadly) agree. Let me save you a click and quote the relevant sentence... "...*This is really a Q&A question. Once you ask there, you will then be notified to use Google.*..."

There could be a lull in activity due to temporary to permanent burn out. Most knowledgeable people, who answer the questions, can't do this day in and day out, indefinitely. Also, if you are asking a "rare" question, which is a question that pertains to a topic or issue that not many developers have, then you may be waiting forever. -- There are no other sites. Honestly, if your search criteria is spot on, and you are not getting the results from Google, then "most" likely, there is no existing info to answer the question.

Yeah, that is a guaranteed way to get on a permanent watch list. Just remember, the government actually created Darknet and the Navy created TOR.

I just find it somehow ironical to ask, on a site that proposes a Q&A area and programming forums, where you could find a site that proposes a Q&A area and programming forums. It is pretty much the same than asking on facebook for a good site to post crap or stories about your cat. I am not sure what should be derived from that. :|

I agree with you. But i guess he just misunderstood this: "...This is really a Q&A question. Once you ask there, you will then be notified to use Google...." for "Don't bring any questions here on CP."

I do not like Stack overflow. It can be great, but it is in slow-self destruct mode. Vanity and pride have killed it.

Absolutely agreed ! The 5 Mongolian Stompers rule has turned it into the biggest clique oriented idiocy I've ever seen. My favorite is where the stompers close your question because it "...has been answered in this question here..." And you go look there and you can't find your answer. Then they explain that it's (tangentially, something they omit from their reasoning) referenced in the 7th paragraph after two code snippets (of 37 and 41 lines, respectively) of the post which "contains the answer". You know, there is probably some valuable business, psychological, economic, and sociological data being generated there in StackOverflow which could be extremely useful for study. The history of such sites could lend valuable insight to group bechavior, and who knows; possibly economic forecasting. I just get the idea that there are parallels with corporations of the past that had to end their businesses.

On this occasion, I'd like to bestow my down-vote of StackOverflow and all things StackOverflow. Apparently, if a question wasn't answered before 2010, it shouldn't be asked. StackOverflow can be a mean and nasty place to demonstrate one's lack of knowledge on a subject. Down with OverflowImperialism. Viva la revolución! However, Stack UX and Stack Programmers, for user interface and programming subjects in general, respectively, are very much thriving these days. Sorry I didn't answer your question.

I was going to write a few paragraphs, and am that glad I didn't because the "5 mongolian stompers rule" covers the same, or pretty much the same, territory. The word I first tried was "clique-ish" which was too "My Rainbow Pony"-ish. The mongolian Stomper is much stronger a term. See also http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/270505/two-suggestions-for-the-five-mongolian-stompers-problem-jury-and-dissent[^] It's impossible for a decent programmer or software maven to get any cred on Stack Overflow, should they join now, especially the pain it would take to rise to the level of "points" needed to have any say.
