Mine taps on the window and meows to be let in the front door. Then walks through the house and out his cat flap in the back door... :sigh:

waiting for me to let him in. He has been doing this for 12+ years now. Would you wait at a door, for an indefinite period of time, for someone to let you in? I know I would not. Anyhow, it is a good thing he is not a lion or tiger, for I fear that I would have been a meal, a long time ago. :)
Premise: my home has a inner garden surrounded by a fence, surrounded by a plot which is itself fenced. My cat is able to wait several ours on the gate between the inner and outer garden (a gate that he easily jumps over due to purposefully placed obstacles) even when he knows there's noone at home... after then he jumps off and goes to the other side. Lazy son of a kitten.

No can do. We have wild critters in the area that will come into your house (fox, raccoon, squirrel, etc.) Also, he is an "in and out" cat. If you let him control you, then you will be letting him in and out of the house, at least 25 times a day.
There are cat flaps that will let only some animals in. Some work with a small badge that can be attached to the collar, and if he doesn't like wearing a collar, there are others that can read the chip under the skin and let only specific chip marked animals in. Because he IS chipped, RIGHT? :doh: I'm not sure if the one I posted an image of is either one, but less will do as well... ;)

My cat is not allowed outside yet. I've had her for five weeks now. Going on a vacation tomorrow and when I get back I'll let her out and see how that goes. For now she does the exact opposite. She waits the door until I let her out. Sometimes she taps the glass and starts meowing. Cute and sad really, but I've got to keep her inside for a few weeks before letting her out...

And? Actually it's extremely unlikely that they'll use a catflap but if they do I'd rather that than having them creeping in somewhere I didn't even know there was a hole and revealing themselves only after they've set up a colony!
