Everyones favourite Kids Show

I have no idea. I stopped watching it when I grew up.

Don't let DD hear you say that! He gets most defensive when I remind him it's a kiddie show...
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

I prefer him to Matt Smith. The Doctor has to be judged, I think, with his assistant. Capaldi works well with Jenna Coleman, but she didn't go at all well with Matt Smith. Smith and Karen Gillan went together well, but I think the Confidential programs ruined my enjoyment of them a bit as they were both so irritating as themselves, particularly her.

Peter Capaldi. What does everyone make of him. I must say I'm quite disappointed. Not sure if it's because he is following Matt Smith, who was great, but he just seems a bit boring. I expected so much better from him. What do you think?
See, I wasn't a big fan of Matt Smith and people suggested that it was because he followed David Tennant. In all honesty, I didn't start trying to watch until the end of Smith's tenure so that wasn't it. I just didn't like his acting. On the other hand I really enjoy watching Capaldi, he seems less fan-girl fiction fodder and less emotional.

well now she's quit he'll get someone else, hopefully nearer his age. I like the Missy character couldn't stand the master played by that bloke from life on mars.

I personally find it difficult to separate the story writers and producers from the Doctor. Its a team effort isn't it?
-
When the story-writers, producers are the same and the doctor changes then you can rate the actors against each other.
To an extent you are correct, but the production team write material to suit the current Doctor and what they feel the audience wants, so if it does go wrong its not just the actor playing the Doctor to blame. I really don't like the Sonic Shades thing, who's idea was that... the whole idea reflects negatively on the actor playing the part even if it wasn't his idea.

I dunno... It really worked for the Skaro episodes... I got a smile out of that little twist... But yeah, hope they aren't a permanent fixture (I'm one episode behind), because it's just not Doctor Who without the screwdriver.
Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?

Apparently so, he was wearing them in a lot of the photos from filming that have come out in the lead up to broadcast.

Hrmm... Well... I'll give it a chance, but I think the gimmick will get old fast.

Only people with no imagination automatically think "sci-fi" == "for children".

Best pairs in the new series, in my opinion: 1) David Tennant + Freema Agyeman (Martha) 2) David Tennant + Billie Piper (Rose) 3) Christopher Eccleston + Billie Piper (Rose) 4) Peter Capaldi + Jenna Coleman (Clara) 5) David Tennant + Catherine Tate (Donna) 6) Matt Smith + Karen Gillian (Amy) 7) Matt Smith + Jenna Coleman (Clara) I had Capaldi in #6 before (Below Smith/Gillian), but he's starting to grow on me (Particularly after the first two episodes of this season)... I'm one episode behind, so no spoilers! :) Gotta agree on Smith and Coleman not really working... Both good actors, but the characters just didn't mesh right... Wasn't really a fan of Smith's Doctor in general... And Donna... Good actress, but the character just annoyed the hell out of me... Maybe that was the idea :)

Well yes, Michelle Gomez is wonderful and hasn't been on TV anywhere near enough since Green Wing.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)The problem is, I think, that glasses are glasses, they sit on your nose in front of your face. The screwdriver you could hold out at arms length, it was threatening, it had clear direction, you could persuade an adversary it was something else, it flew through the air well, it was obvious when it was doing something, and it made a cool noise. Glasses just sit on your face.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)Catherine Tate is not a good actress, resorted to shouting when faced with too much acting to do, but she is a good comedy actress, and she worked well with Tennant at times in a way that wouldn't have worked with any of the others I think. They did write some good story lines for the two of them with plenty of comedy, I particularly liked the episode with the fat babies when she was trying to find him again. I still think they missed a trick with Karen Gillan, in her first episode she was dressed as a police women because she worked as a kissogram. When they left she should have only had time to grab one bag, her kissogram outfits, and would therefore have had to wear a different one in each episode.

Agreed. But you have to admit that the shades made his guitar solo just that extra bit more hilarious... And in hindsight, added quite a bit of awesomeness :) So I wouldn't mind if they kept the shades around as a backup gimmick... But they really need to bring the screwdriver back.
