Hi All, Just had a phone interview. They always leave me with a feeling that I have just said the wrong thing. I think the guy on the end of the phone was expecting someone who had more High Frequency design experience than I have :( . Also this new set up with the emoticons hidden :( I don't really like mind you it will stop some ridden messages I suppose need  (hey still works!)

My last position and current position were both phone interviews. At the last site from 1999 to 2011; at the current site since leaving last site - only the weekend off between.

I seem to remember some talking about this yesterday as I type this I have:

except the here is a link. It's strange I am still using Firefox (mind you it did update this morning). Ah well off to play with Python...

Since I avoid personal interviews as I am just a student at the moment. Most of the HRs and company owners reach me by mobile. Almost 80% of my interviews have always been through a mobile phone as they call me directly and start offering me different packages. Frankly, the same feeling is going on at both ends. That is why, I would personally recommend that you look forward to a personal interview.

I find phone interviews awkward as I am never that good at saying 'I did X' and just find it easier to talk in person.

I must admit it's easier face to face. The fact that you take cues from expressions I find easier to take the hint to shut the elephant up!

You are not alone. There are others having the same problem after Firefox has been updated to version 42.

Exactly, that is much more simpler to tackle and make sure "it went great!". :-) Anyways, good luck with the interviews! Find the best one..

I just checked with FireFox (version 39.0 and the latest, 41.0) and I still see them... And you on a tablet or phone, perhaps?

It's an on-going problem with the server-side browser detection code ... which just goes to show why you shouldn't use server-side browser detection! The results from this page[^] will help the hamsters track down the problem. The usual request is to email them to Chris. In the meantime, you could always change your useragent to spoof FF41. :)

A phone interview is getting a data set in an excel sheet. If it is a "interviewer" and NOT some manager of the company it leaves a bad taste. I am really keen to see the office and people of a new company. It is the most important detail for me and one the other side cant deceive.

The only thing I want to hear when an interviewer calls, is the date of the actual interview. Anything that can be checked by phone can be verified by email.

I usually don't carry one at work, as it means interruptions whenever I'm in flow. If there is an offer, they can describe it and explain why I would be interested. If they can't or won't, then they are not interested in hiring me.

I once had a phone+teamviewer test of skills. Most of the time I was waiting for the text to catch up with me as the connection was very slow. Took me almost an hour to make a simple calculator. Oh and every time I hit compile/run, the only feedback I would get is crash or successful - from the guy on the other side of the phone. No why or any errors written. Luckily the errors showed up in the IDE, but still, it was annoying. By the end of that test, I was left with a very low self-esteem and even though they said that I should learn and call them back for another test like that, I never did.
