    OK, the next email I get from "administrator" gets flamed :mad: Have you ever thought about how many network administrators have their email name set to "Administrator" or "Network Administrator". I'll tell you, about 20% of them. I get emails from these people all of the time and they expact you to remember who they were even though they dont give you any clues. It takes forever to search several thousand emails for all occurances of administrator and then try to tie them up with actual email content. So take a look at your email name "Project Leader" "Administrator" or whatever and see if it will actually make sense to anyone who you might email. If not, take pity on the poor tech support guys and change it to someting with meaning.


    Hell I thought it was funny .....

              While I understand your pain, I actually like "generic" email addresses and I encourage our customers to create one. The problem we have is when we build a relationship with a.somebody@company.com and then they move on. Every other form of communication: fax, phone, snail mail... the organisation receives the communication and says to itself "Alf Somebody has left so I will pass this on to Bert Instead". With email a computer just says "a.somebody doesn't exist so go away!" I know you can forward a.somebody's email to b.instead but in reality it just doesn't happen. We encourage our customers to create department@company.com type addresses that are then forwarded onto to Alf, Bert or whoever. It means that we can maintain a consitent contact with the company. Paul Hooper If you spend your whole life looking over your shoulder, they will get you from the front instead.

                In general this is a good idea and if done correctly its fine. For example "Joe Soap (administrator)" is great but "admin" is not. ;)

                  I name all of my users 'Administrator' and make them share one mailbox. You have to show these peons who's boss early on, or you'll be plagued with their whiny complaints at every turn. "Please don't put cigarette butts in the urinal.
