Saw this quote attributed to Ronald Reagan:
Quote:
I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency, even if I'm in a cabinet meeting.
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Sadly, I suspect it's accurate. Waiting for astrologer's advice, no doubt, to help make decisions.

How he truly felt about astrology is something we will never know. Would you tell anyone that the love of your life might be a little "off"? I wouldn't. I'd say "that's wonderful honey, now kiss me and wish me luck at my meeting." You are apparently a Reagan hater, so you would never cut him any slack. Just as I would never cut Barack Obama any slack either who is also lost without a teleprompter script.

The difference between you and me? I was there. I watched Reagan do for the US what he did for California: Turn a prosperous state with a magnificent educational system to a debtor state running ever larger deficits and a decaying educational system. Obama was a rather blah president, but the blame is squarely on the GOP in the House and Senate who, rather than do the business of governing the United States to make it a greater country spent their time trying to not allow him to be re-elected (and that, explicitly, is on video). I wonder how he would have been as president if the Republican Party didn't busy itself in trying to hurt the country in order to make him look bad. It's legal, but, morally and ethically, the GOP has been guilty of treason during his term. And, with their rejection of the supreme court nominee before he (at the time) was even named shows they'll continue to value their party above their nation. Oddly - compared to the abominations they currently offer, Nixon, and even Reagan, start to look good.

I'll avoid another tomb, but will point out the generalizations you made and how they're erroneous (and perhaps 'stock') answers that skip the reality:

What I speak of is not a "conspiracy" theory: it was proudly spoken right in to the camera, knowingly, with pride, and upon numerous occasions. Pure mindless obstructionism. At least if you were elected to govern and your mind is on getting the business of governing the country done. This was party first - country second. Similarly,

Sure it's legit. The president is obligated to appoint someone for senatorial approval - there's no time frame in the constitution for them to act. But - rejecting the nominee without even knowing who it is? I don't care which party does it, it's neglect of duties and partisan arrogance. They should all be fired. Biggest socialist government-in-private-business system in the country is price supports and subsidies to farmers. I'm still waiting for those to disappear as the first stem in getting government off of the backs of "business". (Stop laughing!) Skipping to your closing - yeah - we almost certainly survive. What I'm worried about is the rehab phase: how long and how much damage. A lot of unjust pain and suffering, and crushing of individual rights: I'd rather pay taxes.

W∴ Balboos wrote: What I speak of is not a "conspiracy" theory: it was proudly spoken right in to the camera Treason is a very serious offence. Punishable by death. I'd like to see that myself... Please send a link or video. But I suspect that it doesn't really exist or has been twisted way beyond its original content. If it did exist and really implicated the GOP in an attempt to subvert the Government of the US, action would have already been taken. More likely just hyped-up accusations. (I was going to say "trumped-up", but I know where that would go these days) :) The "vast right-wing conspiracy" remark refers to what Dems blame every time they get accused of something underhanded. W∴ Balboos wrote: But - rejecting the nominee without even knowing who it is? Yeah... McConnell is a turd-stirring moron. Why provoke ire? He should have just said "Send over your nominee", then go about the business of the Senate. Statements like that actually make Harry Reid appear sentient. No, not really... W∴ Balboos wrote: I'm still waiting for those to disappear as the first stem in getting government off of the backs of "business". I don't like subsides either, even though a few have been beneficial for a while, but like most government "programs" they never end. I'm guessing you've never been in business. I have, wholesale, retail and even Government contracting and it looks a lot different from the inside than as an employee. Regulation isn't all bad, but like subsidies, they just keep accumulating and outlive their alleged usefulness. They added something like 70K+ pages of new regs last year.
