Ummm... isn't their free limit even smaller? 2 GB comes to mind.

But they actively encourage you to open more than one account, if you want more space. onedrive locks into YOU, and and tries to confine you to using nothing but MS for everything.

      Just got an email:

      Changes to OneDrive
We want to let you know about some upcoming changes to OneDrive. On 27/07/2016, the amount of storage that comes with OneDrive will change from 15 GB to 5 GB. We are also discontinuing the 15 GB camera roll bonus. You can learn more by taking a look at our FAQs.

Losing 2/3rds - or even 5/6ths - of your storage is going to hurt some people. If you use it, I'd suggest a long hard look at Dropbox...

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

      I got a similar email:

As you know, the amount of storage that comes with most OneDrive accounts is changing from 15 GB to 5 GB. You previously confirmed your desire to keep your 15 GB of free storage (and the 15 GB camera roll bonus if you have it).* As a result, your account will not be affected by these changes.

We want to apologize for any inconvenience these changes may have caused you. We listened to our users’ feedback, and we are committed to making OneDrive the best option for people who want to be productive and do more.
      Thank you for using OneDrive.

As a result, your account will not be affected by these changes. Then what the hell are you emailing me for????

Just buy a huge-ass desktop hard drive. Sure, there's the initial outlay of cash, but the data sits right next to you, and - well - because 6TB.

To make sure you don't panic when people who didn't click the link to keep their storage start moaning about the loss of their storage. :-D

I don't trust any of microsoft offers for anything anymore the way they lure people in with "Free" service then move to pay or offer more to get more people then drop it once they gather enough user data.

Got that mail as well couple weeks ago. Doesn't affect me, the only thing on there is the pics I take with my phone and if I really want to keep those pics I back them up to one of my nas systems. 9TB storage between them. I don't trust any online storage for anything more than throw away data.
