San Andreas Fault is ready for deadly earthquake according to experts [^] I thought it was last night! The building alarm went off at 1:30 and, as I awoke, I thought I heard and felt a loud bang. It was just the fire doors closing! Phew! The alarm did go off several more times so I am more grumpy than usual this morning, if that is even possible! :-)

So "The Big One" refers to earth quakes? For years I thought it was an anatomical reference spoken of at bridal showers and that it would be better mentioned in the Soapbox. Live'n'Learn

Experts have been predicting that a giant earthquake has been due for years. I can't remember if it was the 60s or 70s but people were selling ocean front property in Arizona.

If you're going to sweat west coast earthquakes, the San Andreas isn't what you need to be worrying about. When it rips the Cascadia Fault[^] has the potential to deliver a 9.x earthquake and tsunami to the far less prepared regions of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
