According to the report on MSNBC[^], witnesses claim that he was shouting "Allahu Akbar". The assailant may indeed have mental issues, but I'd guess that his major problem is listening to the wrong Imam.

What terrorist attack? Can't se anything on the news here about any such. There's been someone killed at Grafing, but by all accounts that was just some nut. [edit] ok he was shouting some political crap - but I gather he was known as someone with mental health issues, rather than part of an organised terror plot.

If you can't see the difference between someone with mental problems going on a wild rant and a well-organised terrorist group undertaking a planned attack for a specific agenda then you really are sleepwalking....

True. Like the mass sexual assaults that happened at New Year that people said were due to Islamic immigration. What nonsense. Sure hundreds of women were assaulted but they were just nutters. [edit] ok the people doing the assaults all happened to come from countries and religions where they are taught that white women are less than garbage and can be treated any way you want, but that was just a coincidence. You're done being an apologist for a single person, I'll now let you be an apologist for a whole group of people, then we'll keep going from there :)

You do talk bollocks sometimes! He was born in Germany 28 years ago so what the fuck has it to do with current immigration policy? Would it have been acceptable to you if instead of 'God is great' he'd extolled the virtues of the Bundesliga team he supported or some neo-Nazi organisation, as many murderers in Germany no doubt have? There were over 26000 knife crimes in the UK last year. If only somebody had predicted them on the basis that .. oh, wait, would that be our ridiculous policy of allowing people to exist?

I was just going by the initial reports I'd seen - who knows, maybe he will turn out to be part of something larger, but at first look it seems he's just a loner who's a few sandwiches short of a picnic. But my "urgency to dismiss the matter" was solely a response to the OP's "urgency" to attribute it to terrorism, when it seems it most likely wasn't, not really. As you say, time will tell.

Well bite this then: First off, F's tongue was not in his(?) cheek, and that wasn't what I'd call a troll attack - because they were genuinely challenging my post, albeit in a somewhat provocative manner. That's OK - this is the Soapbox after all, what do you expect? Personally, I felt he and I came to a sort of understanding in the end - and think that you and Richard both are just being dicks for no good reason. Even given that this is the Soapbox, it never ceases to amaze me how juvenile and idiotic supposedly clever people are. Grow up, for goodness' sake. Chomp.
