I know 'they' are forever announcing breakthroughs and cures but this does sound quite promising... Universal cancer vaccine on horizon after genetic breakthrough[^]

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. Something in that article doesn't pass the sniff test.

"The potential new therapy involves injecting tiny particles of genetic code into the body which travel to the immune cells and teach them to recognise specific cancers." Credit where it's due: I reached that second paragraph before I called Billshut.

I read the whole thing and the first thing I though of was "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." I don't doubt it's possible. I want to see the results of testing trials before I start cheering for it.

"RNA nanoparticles encoding the reporter gene firefly luciferase were injected intravenously into mice to assess biodistribution of the Luc signal. Whereas injection of naked Luc-RNA did not generate a reporter signal, several of the carrier RNA formulations gave characteristic patterns of in vivo organ transfection, indicating protection and efficient translation of RNA" Holy cr@p! they're not kidding! And, Holy cr@p, neither were you about the dumbing-down! Cancer be buggered. This could replace education!

Probably not in my lifetime, but I do believe a universal cure for cancer will eventually be found, and that RNA / DNA pioneers will be at the forefront of the discovery. Let's not put down what we don't understand. :)

Hell, if all we've got to go by is that garbage article from the OP, there's nothing to try to understand but the idiocy of people who try to write about things they know nothing about.

I was not referring to this article in particular. I just believe that a cure will be found eventually and that DNA technology will probably be at the core of the cure.

yeah. Hopefully someone like Arstechnica will be able to do a good translation to English.

DCA has been found to kill cancer cells by a newly discovered mechanism that appears to be common to several types of cancer. DCA works by turning on the natural cell suicide system (called apoptosis) which is suppressed in cancerous cells, thus allowing them to die on their own. It's branded as
