Don't download code from a 6-year-old article using an essentially deprecated framework, and then leave me a message about a null reference exception, and ask me what you're doing wrong. The resulting message exchange will not be pleasant because I don't f*ckin' know what you're doing wrong (other than not being a programmer, that is).

Assuming it's the message on your Wizard article, even a quick glance at the line of code from the exception is enough to see what the problem is.

Actually, I blame you for writing a 6 year old article. It's your own fault. Next time, write a more recent article. :^)

But surely you wrote the article solely to fix his exact problem, using tachyon packets to receive his QA question 6 years early so you could get it ready for him?

Though if they are a new programmer trying to learn, should they necessarily know its a deprecated framework? Is there a way to flag old articles as such so when a person wants to ask a question, this is explicitly explained to them beforehand? Or perhaps they want to understand the old framework merely to satisfy curiosity? Can older articles question submissions be turned off, or redirected to a general forum if the author no longer wishes to respond? I understand the frustration, and I'm guessing you posted this in the Lounge as more of a rant. I have not seen the question and following exchange, so maybe the questioner should have known better, but how can we be more encouraging for those who do not?

IMO bad idea. I've used a number of older articles as reference where Member B answered a question from Member A that was relevant to me even though the author was MIA.

Sorry, should have clarified that. I didn't mean not to show the existing questions/answers, but to not allow new questions being submitted to the author, if they no longer wish to receive them. This would still be allow a reference to the existing questions.
