Name Our Baby

Well, my wife and I are having a baby (due 02.October), and we're trying to narrow down some names. So this poll is only boy names. I think we have a good pick for a girl name: Chloe Grace. I will take girl name suggestions also. Our last name is "Storm". Take the poll![^] - Nitron

I'm dissapointed at your list. (Allow me a minute to put on a straight face) You should name him "Senkwe". In my language it means "My dad is an excellent C++ developer" ;-) For the record, I chose Ethan. What's the difference between a C++ programmer and God? God knows he's not a C++ programmer : anon

I absolutely detest moden naming conventions. We give names to kids because they sound cute to us with no regard at all to how that name might sound to the kid 20 years from now. I know a couple who named their dauther "Kinling" because they were at a restaurant and their waitress had that on her name tag and they thought it sounded cute. Good God! Poor kid. How many little girls born in the '70's and '80's are stuck with "Misty Dawn" for a name? Be traditional, a boy (if a first born son) should have his paternal grandfathers first name, and his mother's maiden name as a middle name. If you want him to have a "cute" name, give him a nickname after he is a year or two old. A girl should be named for her two grandmother's (However, even I refused to name my daughter "Fanny Buelah" after her grandmothers - instead we used aunts names and came up with "Valerie Kathleen" ). You should take every advantage of existing, traditional, names within your own family. It connects a child to thier family heritage and gives the kid something to live up to. Names are important, they shouldn't just be made up. "My job is to protect America" George W. Bush.

For the girl's name, Chloe is cute, and Grace is my wife's great-grandmother's name. Stan Shannon wrote: How many little girls born in the '70's and '80's are stuck with "Misty Dawn" for a name? I've always liked the name Michael ;-) How about 'Rhett Storm'? Michael Michael 'War is at best barbarism...Its glory is all moonshine. Michael, Mark, Tristan, Andrew. Or anything that sounds strong, and won't get him teased mercilesly in primary school :)
It's much better than the term "embedded," though. I'm tired of hearing about embedded reporters. That must be a lousy job, like having a career as a suppository. - Roger Wright
