Nah man, just hearing of it. That's messed up. Crazy to think, I'm from Louisiana, which pretty much just flooded. Moved to here, which is pretty much now burning. If I would've known this was gonna happen I would've brought some water with me in my truck.

Oh wow, that sucks man. And I'm in LA, and apparently haven't been watching the news that much. I didn't think the fires were still going on.

When you said "LA" - did you mean Los Angeles, or Louisiana?

Los Angeles, I suppose that's L.A., but I'm so used to typing LA because of my home state it just stuck.

I actually live in Temecula, in Riverside County. I'm doing a contract here in Santa Barbara that's ending. I'll go pretty much anywhere. Can you email me the details?

California Fire Map [^] If you zoom in, to the west of Los Angeles is Santa Barbara. I'm in Santa Barbara. The Rey fire is buring just north of us. The darker area to the east is what burned since last night. Looking out my office window it's an orangeish-grey haze. The map says it's 20 miles away, but I dunnoo.... Also, to the left of the fire is Lake Cachuma. There was another big fire just south of the lake about 6 weeks ago. Same size as this one that burned all the way to the 101 freeway near the beach. The map shows green where their ain't no green any more.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the disaster, and who may be waiting to hear from loved ones, or to return to their property. With the election looming, it is an important time to reflect on what kind of leadership we would rely on in times of crisis. Is a con-man such as Donald Trump who has made racist, sexist, xenophobic, islamophobic, and misogynistic remarks who we want to define America? Or should we choose the proven public servant, the historic first female major-party nominee, whose wealth of venerable experience includes titles such as Secretary of State, First Lady, and New York Senator? The choice is clear, at least to anyone with the slightest education.
