    * I spend much less than those who drink regularly; * I save my body stress that I can use for other kind of self damaging vices; * I do not risk driving under influence; * I do not risk making BAD decisions or throw tantrums with the downside that I have to take responsibility of my action anytime; * I do not risk my weapons license. All in all I can see the advantages ;P EDIT: I misused a term. today I'm out of sync with my English repertory.

And much to my surprise, when I stopped drinking I started sleeping better, and more effectively. When I was drinking, I needed 9 or 10 hours sleep, and was generally still felt tired when I woke. Without the booze, I need 5 or 6 hours, and don't!

Ok, then I must be drinking while I'm not awake... I still need 8-9 hours of sleep. But I noticed that I can function with 6 or 7 and now more than 9 hours leave me a wreck for the whole day.

I suspect it's just that I "need" 5 or 6 hours, but when I drank I needed a whole lot more to get some (if not all) of the alcohol out of my system before I could get "real" sleep.

I still drink (more than I should) but rarely need more than 6 hours sleep. There are other downsides, but at my age they are not worth worrying about.

The next day, that feeling of dreaded anxiety mixed in with a dollop of self-loathing and a general feeling that everything and everyone you know are totally pointless. I don't like that.

Maybe if you're a morning person. I don't feel good until I get up and wash my face with cold water X| And I don't get really active until somewhere after dinner. I'm at my best when "normal" people go to bed. And of course I'm a wreck again the next morning, because I didn't go to bed at that time. The sad thing about this world is that it's all about morning people. Why the heck do school/work days start at 8-9!? I do my best and make it at 9:30-10, but in weekends and vacations it doesn't really start until 12-13.

TBH, drinking is not a good idea in this heat, though I would murder for a G&T. Wine is plentiful, beer available but spirits appear to be as common as rocking horse shit.

Oh okay. That may be right. I remember a movie called Nagina (means female snake woman) from when I was very young. So yeah, it's probably naga for male and nagina for female. How do you know Hindi anyway?

I have no idea. I know bits of a huge range of relatively pointless subjects - Herself won't play "Trivial Pursuits" against me any more!

LOL, nice skill to have :-) Knowing multiple languages, even minimally, is also a sign of intelligence - but then with you, that was never in question I suppose.
