no, it's "lips tick" - it's a subspecies of generic ticks, you collect them in late autumn (full moon nights are great). The problem with your lips is that they are full of stale, crusty, turned-pink blood. And, frankly, how often the so called "blood circulation" passes by at your LIPS? As often as a broom through a neglected corner. The idea is to attach this specific kind of ticks, which posess a specific enzym to digest crusty blood, to your lips, and leave them on for about a week, until they fall off on their own. When they suck out the old blood, there's underpressuder, and fresh, new blood will be sucked into your lips in no time at all (for a comparison how good an underpressure works, watch out for the one scene in Oddyssey 2001 - but don't fall asleep again!) It might be a bit awkward for your environment, but there's a trick: The trick is: please listen: carefully: the trick is to paint them metallic, and claim it's a lip piercing. Actually that's not the trick, but you should know it. The actual trick is: leave a slight spot unpainted, otherwise they'd suffocate, of course.

...you quit smoking? I used to smoke a lot earlier. But I have quit since the past several months. But in my days as a smoker, my lips turned purple. After so many months, they are still the same colour. Will they ever become pink again? Or am I now doomed for ever? Is there anything I can do about it? Does anyone have this kind of experience? Or should I go see a specialist about it? Should I trust this issue to a nutcase who chose to specialise in improving the lip colour of ex-smokers as his career?

What I mean is, they turned darker than they were in my non smoking days. Earlier they were pink/dark pink (or something like that :~ ) but now they are so dark they look almost purple/brown/black/whatever and ugly. I had thought the colour would return after I quit, but I don't see any change so far.

Are you sure it is not just part of growing up? What age did the change occur? I have seen plenty of Indians with dark lips, not ugly IMO.

Are you sure it is not just part of growing up? What age did the change occur? I have seen plenty of Indians with dark lips, not ugly IMO.

Yeah pretty sure. I started smoking at the age of 20-21, I think. I am now 27. I quit a few months ago, don't remember exactly when, but it's been a few months. The change occured gradually, without me noticing it. But after a couple of years, people (those who knew me closely enough to notice) started asking me about my lips. Anyway... I think it's a lost cause now, my lips that is. :)

...you quit smoking? I used to smoke a lot earlier. But I have quit since the past several months. But in my days as a smoker, my lips turned purple. After so many months, they are still the same colour. Will they ever become pink again? Or am I now doomed for ever? Is there anything I can do about it? Does anyone have this kind of experience? Or should I go see a specialist about it? Should I trust this issue to a nutcase who chose to specialise in improving the lip colour of ex-smokers as his career?

I've been smoking for 16 or so years, and my lips aren't abnormally dark, nor do I notice this on other people I know who have been smoking for many years. It could be the tobacco or any of a number of other additives in the tobacco, that doesn't exist here in the US. Perhaps its some type of allergic reaction. But then I'd expect it to have gone away. Maybe you just have funny lips, Rohit! ;P BW "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." - Bertrand Russell
