When people are running scared because their basic survival needs, their sense of security, the sense they can provide for their families, the sense there is some at least equally bright, or brighter, future for their children ... are threatened ... When people have their legitimate, rational, fears for their future drowned in a barrage of hate-filled media manipulated by a demagogue, and by groups who a racist agenda, who skilfully plays on their fears, who poses as "one of you," even though he was born to wealth and privilege ... When the structure of a democracy set a few hundred years ago by idealistic virtual aristocrats inspired by Rousseau and the French Revolution, as well as desire for secular power and economic independence, is impacted by types of social change, demographic change, types of economic interdependence internationally that are radical ... and the political process cannot change that structure because it is paralyzed by partisan rigidity ... People not only choose not to see, people not only refuse to see, people turn to the demagogue, and their lies, turn to finding scapegoats, conspiracies. Anything but looking at the fact that the nature of labor and employment is shifting in a singular way, and that modern neo-capitalism is failing to adapt, and that economic disparity and the disenfranchisement of a shrinking middle-class ... is inevitable. And, the future is coming whether we like it, or not, coming like an unstoppable jihad on the wings of technology, and automation. Coming on the almost undoubtedly future failures in the global banking system, and the economic chaos that will ensue (can you say "Deutsche Bank"). Donald thy name is "Adolf." Bannon thy name is "Goebbles." Hilary thy name is "Eva Peron." "Politicians are America's only native criminal class" Mark Twain

It's a shame that such eloquence is marred with such bias. :^)

While Rousseau and The Age of Enlightenment likely influenced the folks who wrote our constitution... it was fully ratified BEFORE the French Revolution kicked off. As for the rest of your diatribe... meh! The media is a bigger problem than the politicians and neo-capitalism (whatever that means these days).

In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. ~ Ronald Reagan

                  1. The French Revolution happened AFTER the American Revolution. 1) The US is a constitutional republic - NOT a democracy. 2) How, exactly, is Trump a racist? 3) Trump many not be a good choice for president, but he's a better choice than the alternative BY A LONG SHOT.
