Did you use the same time estimation algorithm to estimate how long the site would be down for just now? ;P

Of course not - that'd be silly and inaccurate. We use the well-tested Random.Next method, of course.

This is what one of our iMacs has been saying about the Sierra install for the past 30 mins. I always find it puzzling that showing an estimation of remaining time is so difficult. [Edit: 1hr later it's now saying "40 seconds remaining". 1 hour later...]

I do not: my time estimations for completing projects are, well, 'a bit inaccurate'. :-D

Go ahead and implement one somewhere on CP. I double-dog dare ya. I'm sure 12M registered users will never complain it's inaccurate. :-D

Easy: it would always say "Real Soon Now" until it actually finished, then it would say "almost done". Just in case.

That's what it's said on the Maunder catching up with Mick for a beer clock, for the past 9 years or so.

Maybe they are football minutes. Still sounds better than SharePoint. You get the ubiquitous "This should not take long." message with no estimate. When you see this message, it means you have plenty of time to get a cup of coffee. :java:

Beer O' Clock? When I met him a few months ago, he mentioned you guys were due to meet for a decaf low-fat soy milk latte.

Caeser III is on sale on Steam! Although for me to install it I think was only a few seconds.

Reminds me of the old mainframe days when if something was expected to take a while to install or run, the programmer would display: "Sit back, this will take a while."

You obvious are slow to upgrade..... or new to MacOSX.... having had that estimation since the Leopards grew old and the Lions hatched  I recall that especially true when you have anything else in /usr/local, or /Users//Applications, it doesn't like competition from other developers :wtf: And don't think about trashing and then do a TimeCapsule "restore applications" either you'll need even more :java: :java: :java: :java: Thus, think about it this way: It's silly season, even computers have the right to be silly this season ;) :suss:
