You seem to just dismiss the last two decades then. Maybe you need to read up on how things changed in the late 80s due to Reagan and then the emergence of Fox news. Check out "Out Foxed" if you want a blip of it, but there is much more to it than they covered (including the liberal media following suite). Sorry, but you are just wrong. "Calunnia" and "Diffamazione" are two very applicable felony in this case. They're usually also the very fist lawsuits that is filed in almost any situation where someone speaks too much.
