Finally, I found "Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds" on MP3. I haven't listened that album since I originally sold my vinyl copy. It still sounds great - at least to me. Does anynone else remember this one? Perhaps I'm too old compared to rest of the CPians? Anyway "Forever Autumn" is still great song. SDK Maintenance Programmer

And I thought I was the only person to have heared it, let alone love it. My dad had it on his crackle-machine (vinyl). Between that and a really good version of "Windmills of your mind" were the only two of his vinyls I ever listened to. As a kid I loved looking at all the pictures in the book that came with it. They put pictures to what you were listening to.

Oh... reading the title I thought Brian is getting married. Well... About a year ago, I bought the computergame for about $8 - including the music. Not best quality I must say, but sounds way cool. OTOH I have only a nebulous idea what the whole thing is. Quite old, I know ;)

Actually, I was about 16 when I got album as a present. Of course, as SF fan, I love it instantly. Yes I remember the book - illustrations were actually so good that after the album I saw couple of H.G. Wells book editions with those. SDK Maintenance Programmer

But I sold it along with all my other lp's years ago when I did a major move across country. I also had a bunch of bootleg's my favorite being a Led Zepplin '45 that was apparently part of a bunch found in an old warehouse in Portugal (according to my import dealer). Unfortunately sold that as well, but I guess it's all for the best, what would I do with them now. That was definitely a quirky album, I listened to it only twice because at the time I thought I was a record collector and didn't want to scratch it or anything. Wonder where it is now? Wouldn't it be cool if you could somehow track those kinds of things, like old cars you sold or ex-girlfriends ;) just to see where they are now? I'll have to dig my copy out and give it a spin. Forgot all about it.

Oh yes! Fantastic album even though it was labelled as "prog rock" at the time and hence some of my ex-punk friends see it as the work of "the enemy". he he. I had the vinyl version and have had the CD for over 10 years (complete with mini booklet). If there was ever a Hollywood remake needed, it is for War of the Worlds - as it was in the book - set in Victorian England. That would be wondrous. The George Pal 1950s version was good, but I want to see those Martian tripods attacking London circa 1901...
