A software engineer was detained for several hours by U.S. Customs — and given a test to prove he’s an engineer

Celestine Omin was accustomed to tackling tough engineering problems. Just not the two that the border agent had put in front of his face — or at least not now, after having spent 24 hours cramped in an economy seat on Qatar Airways.

Well, at least he didn't need to implement a B-Tree!

No link? Is it a test? Do we have to edit the page source?

Odd. I see a link there. Maybe it's some LinkedIn nonsense. I'll switch it over to re/code. Try it now.

Yeah, I was going to post that a couple of weeks back, but I decided not to. Now that it seems to be a broader event, I figured I couldn't ignore it. Time to brush up on my CompSci 100 stuff. I might go down there soon.

WTF ?
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

God bless the US security forces, protecting people from bad code! Actually, "security forces" sounds a bit harsh: too militaristic and nasty. Let's use a softer term that suits them better, and shows that they're there to help people. How about Security Services?

The border agent's skills are being seriously underused: Either he knows how to balance a b-tree himself and should be a developer, or he can ask a technical question to which he does not know the answer and should be a project manager.
