Well as I said, I didn't like it on Anniversary either. Chrome scroll performance isn't "slow", but after you use Edge for a bit you will definitely feel the difference. It's like going from a 60hz TV to a 120hz TV. The 60hz TV isn't "slow", it's fine, but then you look at a 120Hz TV and it's like "woah, that's really smooth." The tab issue on Chrome seems to happen randomly maybe once out of every 10 or 20 times I open a link in a new tab, but I do that all the time so it gets a little bit annoying. It's only been happening for a few days so I'm sure they will fix whatever is causing it soon, but it was more of a reason to give Edge a real go for the time being.

Edge is a pile of doggy do-dos: I have to use it very occasionally for a few specific sites and it never ceases to annoy me. I'm glad you like it, but then - the chimpanzees they had throw the original version together were also probably very happy with what they produced ... doesn't mean it was a worthwhile browser. And chrome just hasn't given me any problems, recently or not.

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

I have been trying out Edge after most major updates since Windows 10 came out and always ended up hating it and going back to Chrome, but I think that has changed after this Creator's Update. Chrome seems to me like it has been getting slower and slower. Scrolling performance leaves a lot to be desired these days, and the latest update has tabs regularly freezing up for 5 seconds at a time on all my computers (1 mac laptop and 2 PCs). The one thing I really like about Edge is that it certainly feels a lot more responsive and the scrolling is buttery smooth. The only thing I'm kind of on the fence about is Edge's font rendering. Chrome has much smoother looking fonts, whereas Edge gives text a bit more contrast but it seems to come at the expense of smoothness. I don't think that will continue to be an issue after upgrading to a high DPI ultrawide in the near future, but it's a bit of an issue on my plebian 96 DPI monitor at the moment (although I do like the 30" of glorious real-estate). I removed my Chrome taskbar shortcuts and completely made the switch a few days ago and I gotta say I think I enjoy Edge more overall now. Anyone else try to make the transition after Creator's Update? What were your thoughts?

Until Edge has a full-screen mode, I won't bother revisiting it.

Um, you just said you haven't tried it in CE so I'm not sure what we are discussing. My post specifically indicated that I disliked it before and this is the first version I think might actually be good, so let's resume this discussion after you actually try it and have something more concrete other than "doo doos" to talk about, haha :)

I never noticed it was missing, probably because I rarely ever use it, but it does indeed appear to be missing. Just curious - what do you use it for?

I'm not going to try it, or at least not by preference. Microsoft can shout about how good it is until they are blue in the face - but I remember that they shouted really loudly all over the TV that it was wonderful for the first one and that was a total lie, as you well know. The only good thing about that one was "you could use it to download Chrome"! So why should I believe a random person who - as far as I know - could well be working for the MS marketing department?

Web-based VDI sessions mostly, but I also like to go full screen for some other things as my eyesight isn't overly brilliant and if I'm going to be on a tab for any length of time, the more screen estate I can get, the less eye-strain I suffer.

They are not telling you how to live your life, only which web browser to use, but in today's world it's practically the same thing :)

It is surprising. Bite the hand that feeds you comes to mind.

Until I can pin the favorites sidebar to the left and persist that across sessions, I have no interest. It would probably be a trivial change for the Edge team to make.
