I guess most Americans don't even know such thing exists. Maybe it's better that they don't know how badly Team USA performed X|

I think you meant this to be in the thread above! :D Good point anyway :) Ryan Being little and getting pushed around by big guys all my life I guess I compensate by pushing electrons and holes around. Whwre are you from ? I don't understand why is the stanley cup final more attractive for fans whose team is already out, than performance of whole country at world championship. Some people says that in USA when something is not about big money (like NHL) then nobody cares about that. Is that true ?

I love my Philadelphia Flyers, Phillies, Sixers because when growing up that's the teams my family went to see. What is happening now is that these major sporting events are becoming expensive, if you wanted to go often, so as a side effect minor league baseball and hockey are big attractions. These are small money teams, but great for a family to goto and have fun, while watching great sports. Later,

It think it all comes down to marketing and availability. With American satallite television I get ESPN and ESPN2 and a ton of alternate channels that will combine to carry every Stanley Cup playoff game. I can even spend the big bucks and get all games for the whole season on special channels. These games are timed very well on the east coast. I can catch a game at 7:00 pm and another around 10:30. Plus a lot of channel flipping during intermission to catch the other games. I have yet to see a single mention of the IHWC other than your post. I don't know if any of the dozens of sports channels I have carry a single game (It could also be my short attention span causing me to miss any mention). And I am certain many games would be shown in the early morning hours here in America. I paid attention to the last Winter Olympics when it came to hockey. I was very impressed by the differences when playing on a larger rink. And it seems to me that we Americans can accept international competition at the Olympics and not anywhere else. When I think of international sports I think of Soccer Hooligans bashing steins into each others faces. It just isn't too appealing. By the way, NHL is not international because Canadians are just Americans who don't realize they really are Americans. We told them once, a long time ago, but all they said was "Eh?!". We let it go after that. ;) Another aspect is that America is really large. This causes our States to be just as diverse as many adjoining countries. Interstate rivalries are more exciting than any international rivalry could be just because other countries are too far away. I'd also conclude that there are so many international players in the NHL that for us, International Hockey is almost redundant. The NHL boasts dozens of really good Russian, Czech, Swedish, etc. players. And frankly, we have enough problems trying to pronounce their names. :P
