In the absence (so far) of any evidence of deliberate attack, I can't help but wonder how such an outage is possible in this era of "the cloud" and (presumably) multiple redundant servers, satellites, etc.: [^]. In any case, my sympathies to the thousands whose travel plans and lives are disrupted. A slightly paranoia-flavored frisson just sent a shiver down me spine: will we ever really know what happened ... assuming knowledge of the details might aid and abet the kind of hostile actors who are at large these days ?

«When I consider my brief span of life, swallowed up in an eternity before and after, the little space I fill, and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant, and which know me not, I am frightened, and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, now rather than then.» Blaise Pascal

Can it be that most big businesses (read: Hospital and healthcare groups, airlines, etc.) are too tight with their IT budgets? It can be the old story: When the sun shines, the roof does not leak, so why spend money fixing it? :sigh:

The May 27 2K17 bug ? I am certain there is a numerology meaning for today's date.

              I'd rather be phishing!

You think BA is going to admit this publicly? Same sort of thing happened to Delta, United, American... hmmmm. Chipotle just admitted they lost ALL of their transactions stored on their servers - accounts, pins, etc. If I were a retailer, it's not worth the risk to retain this information. As for BA, it will come out.

True but I think the answers can also be found is multiple Dilbert columns.
