Hey Guys, Just the other day I was travelling in the subway and had the urge to check out CP, and I wondered how nice it would be if we had a mobile app for CP. Are there any plans in the near future? Thanks.

What's wrong with the trimmed-to-mobile site? I use it all the time...

Skipper: We'll fix it. Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this? Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

We have better things to do

Dunno. You would have to ask the admins directly: Bugs and Suggestions[^] is the place to suggest it. Doubt it though: it's a lot of work for not a lot of gain as far as I can see.

Browse to Cp on a mobile device, the user agent info tells CP and it switches to the Mobile layout.

I assume that is the same for the iPad, as the display is subtly different in places.

Nothing in particular. A mobile app lets you omit a few steps that's all.

I get that it is a joke and I like it, however, a lot of people really value accessibility on the go. For a person carrying a laptop, it is not a problem. But when we are not, it comes down to the mobile.

Same here. It works well for me also. On chrome for android you can "Add to home screen" from the settings menu, which lets you launch CP in browser as if you were launching an app.

You mean like, a browser for mobile devices? (seriously, I don't the point, primarily because I've never seen an "app" for a site that is little more than a poor wrapper around said web site, that actually provides less functionality than a browser)

I think it would be better (from a delivery, maintenance and usability point of view) to have a truly responsive website.  CP's current rendering on mobile is pretty terrible. :( /ravi

I have been working, off and on, on a mobile app for CP based off the API for a little while now. It's using the same core codebase that I used in a couple of articles, but extended to cover the rest of the API. The idea is that there's going to be a couple of articles around this as well. Unfortunately, the API isn't stable enough right now for me to want to stake what little reputation I have on pushing out something against an API that may, or may not be, running at any given point.

Cool, may I see that? I'd really like to.

It's still, very much, a work in progress. It's based on the code I started here[^].
