Do any of you have a fav site that shows 2003 pay scales for Programming jobs? I have seen them in the past, but I want to see how my pay falls now. I know that I need to be thankful that I even have a contract and job, but I am working on 4 years without a pay raise. Management keeps using the 'soft market' phrase when I bring up money. AND of course, I am doing lots more than 4 years ago!!! I am also curious as to your perception of what jobs are like in your area. I live in Louisiana. Let's face it, there just aren't all that many programming jobs here. (I heard on the radio last week that 7000 more folks left the state than came in since 2000. The brain drain is on.) :| Wayne

Up until last December I lived in Baton Rouge and they always had a job available around that area - although some didn't pay well but some did. Six months ago I found positions listed in Lafayette, Slidell, etc. too but I think New Orleans and Baton Rouge have the most options. Which part of Louisiana are you in? I live in Metairie (for the CPians that don't know, I can spit and hit New Orleans) doing contract work for the US Dept. of Energy. BTW, I did this website a couple years/jobs ago that lists some of the tech companies in Louisiana. Give them a look-through to at least get an idea or search for potential employers. http://www.latechnologyguide.com/[^] (*Falcon).Jeremy.GetLatestArticle() = "Learning Binary and Hexadecimal"

Not if the function is declared to return a reference:
Link& GetLatestArticle(void)
{
return latestArticle;
}However, this is a classic example of something that should be refactored, because "getters" should not return references that can then be "set". Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

Jeremy Falcon wrote: I'm somewhat of a joker/get people really pissed off at me kinda guy. It would take a whole lot more to get me worked up. So do you like New Orleans/Metarie? I have thought of commuting to N.O. from Walker. Wayne
Well, I commuted from EBR to N.O. when I first started working there from mid Dec. to mid Feb. If you do that, kiss your extra time goodbye. The drive itself isn't that bad if you crank up the music and speed like hell. In three months of speeding I've only seen a cop gunning twice. :) From Walker, I'm guessing you'd take 55 to I-10, which means (I assume) easy traffic - that is until you reach Kenner. All of the sudden traffic is gonna slooooow down, so you have to prepare for that. (*Falcon).Jeremy.GetLatestArticle() = "Learning Binary and Hexadecimal"
