I just noticed recently that when a box of Kleenex is near empty, the color of tissue changes to peach to remind users that it is time to buy a new box. What a smart idea. Do you know any other examples like this?

My car has a flat tyre warning. I saw it one day and drove in to work wondering what the hell that light meant. When I got in to work I read the manual, then I looked at the tyre and realised the significance of the light. These sorts of things are only useful if you know what they mean. No I am not going to read the whole of my car manual - I simply don't have the time.

Roll-your-own cigarette rolling paper boxes contain a coloured paper when there are only 10 left (of typically 50 or 100). Another example: Patent US5365874 - End of dental floss tape indicator - Google Patents[^].

Like a hard drive that gives the "imminent failure" warning. :-D

Yes, but I can't tell you in every detail what the owner of my local bar mixes into the beer to remind me that I should have another one. And now you have reminded me to go and buy a fresh two pound roll of filament for the 3D printer after work.

I don't think so. You would only smoke less when finally running out of papers without being informed before.

I already have one, if you take into account how long it needs to finish an object. More of a relative spacetime printer.

That feature would be better if the tire sensors were not first sensors to fail (and costs $180+ to replace).

One thing the mechanic told me when he was replacing the wheel was "Don't use the quick tyre inflation fix tool!" as it will fill the tyre with gunk and require the tyre sensor to be replaced. So not only do I not get a spare tyre but if I use the kit that is meant to reinflate the tyre I also have to fork out a large quantity in dosh to replace the sensor too - that's a definite fail on the p[art of the manufacturer.

I remember seeing it from time to time at some stores. It gave me an impression that leaked ink from the register colored the paper. I was certainly wrong.

The car has a flipping huge touch screen that relays performance, satnav, reversing camera and audio information. They could create a welcome video that can be played on the screen to familiarise you with the car.
