Is it normal to have an over 10 C temperature change (up/down) overnight? I can't recall it from decades before...

      Only 10C? How about 40C?[^] :)

At first glance, I thought you were referring to body temperature, to which I would answer that it's perfectly normal . . . if you are dead. You must, however, be referring to the street temperature - and such changes are, although not common, not rare, either. Actually, today, the AM temperature when I left for work (in the dark) was about 30F (-1 C). It is expected to be about 50F (10 C) by mid afternoon. Roughly the same yesterday. So - no big deal.

It seems that the normal cooling/heating of the day-night-day cycle has no bad effect on me. What kills me is a sudden midnight wind-storm, that drops the temperatures in 5 minutes...

When I used to commute to work on a railroad, it was always very near dawn. Just a bit before sunrise there's usually a small increase in the wind and a rapid change in temperature. Probably a thermal wave produced by the oncoming warm air. Except, in the winter, it was unpleasantly cooler, and of course, with the breeze, that much more penetrating. OK - suppose you don't go outdoors anymore. Will that help?

A few weeks back, a friend stopped at the grocery store on his way home. While inside, a rainstorm blew through. When he left the store, the temperature had dropped by 19 degrees F.

I wouldn't say normal, but I've experienced twice that in both directions.

Yep, that is common here in the South. 10-20 degree changes from the storms.

It could be a heat wave if the temperature goes up by 10 °C from day to day, so yes, it's normal ... :-), but also rather rare ...

Don't complain - just across the Med from you we have had a 12 degree hit, from 12C to 24C. Needed a shirt, pullover and jacket in the morning, and just the shirt three hours later.

Is it normal to have an over 10 C temperature change (up/down) overnight? I can't recall it from decades before...

Here in Tennessee, where we normally experience all four seasons in a typical week, that is quite common.
