When I feel sleepy or otherwise unproductive I used to walk outside (we have a nice green park) for a few minutes...

Seconded. A change of scenery and a chance to process can also work wonders when you're getting "writer's block".

..sleeping at work? :) Particularly in the afternoon , after lunch, and when you just got above 35 years old. I play a couple of games on my phone for few minutes, drink a glass of water & get back.

Close to 50 here... We have a nice roof terrace where I normally go outside after lunch for 10-15 minutes, get a cola or a bull and just let the sun shine on my face. Many ppl do that here, it's common. Feels a bit like a power nap... even if you drink a bull :-) When you get back in, your energy is back too.

I had the same issue until I found out I was diabetic, and the carb accumulation for the day was knocking me out in the afternoons/early evenings. but, I suspect your issue is just casual sleepiness? Been to a doctor lately? Edit: not taking into consideration, general diet and exercise, etc.

Who was it, Newton, Edision, Pascal? One of those type guys would hold a spoon between their index finger and thumb over a plate laid on the floor and drowse until they dropped the spoon and the clatter woke them up. About 5 minutes. Get a conference room plate and spoon, just not the paper and plastic kind. OR work from home and no one will know as long as your system sounds for email and messages are loud enough.

Sleep deprivation is not something to promote  I'd also hate to be the one crossing the road if Newton, Edision or Pascal would show up in their car.

When I could, I would go find some physical work to do such as organizing a network closet or a storeroom. About 15-30 minutes of activity would do the trick and wake me up plus I was still getting some work done. To bad I can't do that with the current job so I have to fall back on lots of coffee.

It's usually the other way around. I might fall asleep in front of my monitors, becoming aware of it when I awaken. As an extremely morning person, this is always an afternoon event. I get few visitors and so I suppose no one every notices.
