No seriously, well done. Replaced my motherboard and processor last week* and needless to say, Windows 10 wanted reactivation. I'd already linked the PC to my MS account, so it should be just a "I have changed hardware" reactivate. Except ... all weekend I'm getting "we can't talk to our servers" and then Sunday evening it changes to "we can't do that right now, try again later". So Monday morning I ring MS. Their guy takes over my PC and starts to have problems because he can only see one monitor of the three, and it doesn't have the toolbar or start button. And I can't move it because that counts as "personalization" and you can't do that until you activate ... Still, we muddle through, and I'm glad to see he tried what I had then paused a while (presumably to find another tech support sheet) and tried it again. STill, eventually with the help of photos of my COA, screen grabs of my MB receipt, and a fair amount of hair tearing at his end, it's all activated. Hour and a half that took. But it worked! Well done, Microsoft - Danny deserves a medal. (Mind you if your DRM wasn't so draconian, he wouldn't have been needed, would he?) Oh - and I now have a VBS script that reads my product key from the registry in human friendly enterable characters ... might hang onto that. * Core 1 on the old one was getting too hot and causing soft errors, 75C is way too much. Probably just the thermal paste breaking down, but I've had problems removing old heatsinks before.

This does not really make me want to have anything more to do with Mickeysoft. The OS is a component of the computer and has to do its job without getting into my way too much. What if the companies that made the other components started with that kind of harassment as well? You would be jumping through burning hoops every day and they would just get even crazier when they get away with it. Sorry, Mickeysoft, but I will not waste any time on this little shit test.

I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats. His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

I rebuilt mine last weekend (grading up from Core2 quad and Win7) and Win 10 couldn't connect to the Internet without a new driver for the Ethernet port (as it turned out). Until then, the troubleshooter kept saying something was wrong with the Ethernet settings and couldn't fix it -- would I like to provide feedback on the troubleshooter? :sigh:

Yeah, I went from an dual core E6700 on an ECS MB to an i5 on a Gigabit MB, and ... Win 10 worked perfectly. No bus master problems, no USB controller hiccups, I replaced the MB and powered up on the original SSD and it booted straight in. All required drivers detected and loaded for me. That's a real improvement on the old days!

No, mine is a bit more complex, including specific bits for Win8 as well as rather different code.
