FYI, he spammed this to the lounge, which was where it was when I replied before a mod moved it. Cheers!

    Ah, right-on then.

So you are finally openly admitting the fact. I congratulate you on this formiddable piece of self reflection, well done!

As a North Carolinian: fuck off As a member of the Guard who sees first hand the people affected by this: fuck off Whether this is the result of some political talking point or not, your attitude is grotesque. We were evacuating people several days in advance and, based on the damage caused by the storm, that fact saved a LOT of lives. If the media hadn't been very clear about the potential rainfall and storm damage most of those people wouldn't have budged. The simple fact is that the media saved lives this time.

My attitude is grotesque? Do you even recognise what it is, or are you blinded by your own attitude? What is it, are you a pro AGWer or a posturing hero? The fact it it WAS a bit of a flop. From cat 4 hurricane to storm. ( That is a good thing by the way. Just in case you wanted to interpret my 'attitude' again. ) As someone affected, don;t you find the gloating media offensive? Reminds me of the Shetland oil spill. Three sea otters were killed. Two by being run over by journalists...

Neither, I was here, not armchair quarterbacking from another fucking country. Hurricane category is strictly based on wind speed around the eyewall and has nothing do do with water output. Florence just sat on the coastline for days and pumped ocean water all through the eastern Carolinas. The flooding was catastrophic and is an ongoing problem, there have been dozens of casualties, and property damage is around $20 billion and counting. That's what you're calling a "flop". The media, being the hyperbolic beast that it is, actually hit the level of devastation pretty well in their over-estimation. Their ringing of alarms definitely saved hundreds or thousands more people than your stupidly-timed attack on said media, based on nothing but politics. But hey, your own politics are so much more important than any lives lost or destroyed. So, yeah, your attitude is grotesque. Fuck off.

So it is the posturing hero then, since you were there, doing courageous stuff (that is good, I admire you for that) but had to jump on my post to take the moral high ground (that is bad). And yet more swearing and abuse, dear oh dear. Shall I go tell the mods and whine? No, unlike some here I am not a wimp. Whatever problem you have, it is yours. Get over it.

Oh, I just think that minimizing loss of life and property as a talking point is patently pathetic. I should think that's pretty easy to understand.

Really? You said that the press alerts minimised loss of life. Does that make your comments 'patently pathetic'?

Okay, I can understand how you might not understand that when I write "minimized loss of life", I meant "prevented casualties". My bad for placing logic over rhetoric, as I thought it might be understood in context.

What is not to understand? So like Losinger, are you an advocate of climate change, in all its alarmist, end of the world, form? (I have forgotten, you probably are)

This has nothing to do with climate change; you're the only one who's saying that it is. To address your weird insistence on the topic: I'm a skeptic, hearsay and fabrication is not science. My response is about you crapping on people's lives and livelihoods in the name of politics. I think it's disgusting, and the fact that you fail to recognize that sort of reinforces that point.

No, I am wondering if it is your motivation.

Name of science actually. Of course some might see it as political, but anyway, so if loss of life is involved then it can not be discussed in a political way? How did you feel about discussions of Gulf War II then?
