With 2 Itanium processors I would go for at least 1 GB ram :) I would change the 100GB hard disk for 5 20GB SCSI disks and a RAID controller. And change the modem to a netcard so I could use my ADSL connection ;) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

o Erik Thompson would scorn at you and demand there be *at least* 2 screens ;) o I'd consider 512Mb as a minumum spec nowadays - esp since it's so cheap! o I agree with Anders - a SCSI RAID with mirroring. o 56K modem? Nope - I'd want a 5Gb connection on my 'ideal' machine! All in all, though, the machine I'd love to have to play with would be the Cray C90 that I used to work with. 4 heads, parallelisation and vectorisation, separate processing units for logic, floating point, integer, etc, tons of registers etc, 64bit...mmmmm! cheers, Chris Maunder (CodeProject)

ISA? PCI is on its way out. Why would you want ISA? -Matt Newman :suss:

Because much ISA hardware still exists that must be tested from time to time. Having at least 1-2 ISA slots is still a plus for many. Ed

As long as we're speaking of ideals... why not an OC192 or at the very least, an OC3 connection instead of a relatively slow T1? Or at least a T3?
