To be a good citizen I'm putting some stuff here rather than arguing in other forums[^]. This whole fiasco is a fine example of the stupidity that results from feelings outweighing facts. Waiting for the first contributor to go to a judge for a cease and desist order; that will be an eye opener.

The idea of the major contributors to the kernel pulling their code is a little frightening. Loosing just a few of them will set back development by a decade and render half of the internet vulnerable to the next zero-day exploit. It's the nuclear option with world-wide implications. All of this because some smug, self-righteous SJWs want to force encourage more non-white, non-male people into STEM fields. :doh:

Then let's hope it happens. 1) It creates new paid jobs for all kind of consultants; 2) It will set in history what happens when SJWs take decisions.

It is not possible for a human to create a law/regulation/rule which cannot be abused either by over enforcing it or by getting around it. Attempts to 'refine' existing law/regulation/rule because the prior one was found insufficient for some specific incident will eventually lead to such complexity that most people cannot even determine what they should or should not be doing. And despite the attempts in the US to exalt the individual the fact is that that best society can do is an attempt to address some problems. The common ones and nothing else. Complexity insures that that is and always will be true.
